Student Testimonials

Ms Ma is really nice. Her calm personality motivates me to learn as she never scolds me when I do something wrong. Besides that, she taught grammar rules well. I used to forget grammar rules but with her teaching methods and helpful set of concluding notes, I rarely forget the grammar rules. She also uses fun ways to teach us composition writing, allowing us to understand the different techniques of writing excellent compositions. This year’s PSLE composition was really similar to one of the compositions Ms Ma taught us. Therefore, I was able to use the exciting plot and the techniques taught. Ms Ma also taught us many good phrases for different emotions. For orals, she uses a wide variety of topics to help us practice, teaching us how to articulate some words, giving us useful comments on our speed and performance. Therefore, she is one of the teachers who really helped me in my primary school journey of learning English, allowing me to achieve an AL1 for English for my PSLE. Leung Sin Ching, Mee Toh Primary School

Although I only started taking Ms Ma’s classes this year, she has helped me greatly in my studies. In Primary 5, my English grades dropped significantly from above 90(AL1) to 86(AL2). In Primary 6, it became even worse when I got AL3 for my Review Exercise. However, since my mother signed me up for Ms Ma’s classes, I improved! By using the good words and phrases in composition that she taught me, I managed to achieve AL2 for SA1! Then, she also helped me with various components other than composition writing, such as the orals and the comprehension open-ended. She also recommended some assessments books that I should start on, which were a great help to me! When my PSLE results were released, I was elated to find out that I had achieved AL1 for English! It was unexpected, and it proves just how much Ms Ma has helped me! I am extremely grateful to her and will certainly continue to attend her classes in the future!  Stella Deng, Temasek Primary School

I attended Ms Ma’s classes since I was in P5. At that time, my English was very weak but with all the help from Ms Ma, I managed to improve from an AL 4 ( Prelims )to an AL 2 ( PSLE ). Though we had to deal with the pandemic, Ms Ma was always prepared for online lessons and she supplied us with useful and beautiful notes we could refer to before our exams or tests. She is also very humorous, always bringing the class joy and happiness, thus making the lessons less boring and mundane. Overall, Ms Ma is a reliable and good teacher. Ms Ma is the most cordial and dedicated teacher I have encountered. She places each of her student’s individual needs in the forefront of her teaching to customise learning for every student. Ms Ma has not only helped me to increase my command of English through her constant guidance for 6 years, but has also helped me to grow as a person, going beyond her call of duty to teach me life lessons alongside my work. She is one who takes immense pride in her students’ success and in the betterment of her students; and her drive to push them beyond what initially thought possible will certainly set your child on the right path to success. Ms Ma was my tuition teacher for 5 years and is one of the most patient and understanding teacher who genuinely cares for her students. She always made sure I understood the comprehension passages and essay points by patiently going through them with me and made English lessons less dreadful despite how boring the subject may seem. I am very grateful to have had her as my teacher who was always there to guide me not only through my academic journey but also in terms of my character and development as a person.  Charlene Chia, Nan Yang JC

I attended Ms Ma’s classes since Primary 6. For my O-Levels, I managed to clinch an A2 under her guidance, and it was surprising because all along I have been getting Bs. Ms Ma’s classes were always a joy to attend; she would include fun yet interesting videos to pique our interest and the videos also helped convey the main message within a short period of time. Ms Ma uses mind maps to summarise her topics and creates essay outlines so we are able to master the composition topics. She provided us with a list of useful examples which I still use in my GP compositions in Junior College. Additionally, she not only cares about our grades but also our physical and mental health. Her lessons are interesting and useful to attend and she is a passionate teacher who puts in her all to help her students meet their targets.   Chloe Tay, Victoria Junior College

Diligent, passionate and dedicated, Ms Ma puts in her best into her teaching. She constantly thinks of ways to help us improve and strongly believes that by providing attention to each student, she will be able to help each student tackle their weaker areas. She is also a very understanding teacher when we were overwhelmed by our preparation in the run-up to O-levels.  Wong Wan Qi, Raffles Junior College
